- An essential part of your anti-lock braking system
- A malfunctioning ABS sensor might trigger a dashboard light
- Can be clogged or damaged by brake dust and road debris
Your ABS Wheel Speed Sensor can be found on each wheel of your vehicle. The ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (Right, Front) analyzes wheel speed and communicates this data to your ABS, or anti-lock braking system. With this data, the ABS helps to keep the brakes from locking up in the event of extreme braking.
When these components start to wear out, your Nissan's brakes might lock up, which could cause some wheels to stop turning and others to continue spinning. If the brakes lock up when you need to brake, you could lose control of your vehicle while driving. Once your ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (Right, Front) realizes that the wheels are turning out of sync, the anti-lock braking system will regulate the brakes until your wheels are rotating in unison.
If the ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (Right, Front) stops working the way it should, it may no longer send the correct data or any information at all to the ABS computer, and the computer will not be able to properly regulate the brakes in an emergency braking situation. A faulty or inoperable sensor might also illuminate your ABS warning light or Check Engine Light on your Nissan dashboard.
These ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (Right, Front) issues can happen when debris like dirt and brake dust clog the wheel speed sensor or if it becomes exposed to hard objects or incidents. If your wheel speed sensor is no longer working as it should, have it replaced with an authentic OEM ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (Right, Front) from Nissan Parts to make sure it fits your vehicle perfectly.
