- Releases the hood latch mechanism that opens your vehicle’s hood
- Connects the hood release handle to the hood latch mechanism
- Replace if your hood release handle is stuck or is not working
Your Nissan's Hood Release Cable connects the hood release handle found in the cabin of your vehicle to the latch under the hood. When the hood release handle is pulled, it pulls on the Hood Release Cable and allows the hood latch to release or “pop” the hood.
Without the Hood Release Cable, you might not be able to open your vehicle's hood since the hood release handle would have nothing connecting it to the hood latch. If your Hood Release Cable is broken, you would likely need to open the vehicle's hood from the outside by methods not recommended by Nissan, as they could damage the hood latch and cause it to open while driving. Opening your hood without using the hood release latch may leave the hood latch damaged or not functioning correctly, as well as the parts around the hood latch.
Over time, the Hood Release Cable can wear out or rust, which can cause it to get stuck or even break apart during use. It's likely time to replace your Hood Release Cable if pulling your hood release handle does nothing or if you feel excessive resistance when pulling the release handle.
If it's time to replace your Hood Release Cable, purchase a genuine replacement Hood Release Cable from Nissan Parts. Our OEM replacement parts are custom-designed, durability-tested, and custom-fitted to match your Nissan model and year.
