Your Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve (PCV Valve) controls gas emissions expelled from your Nissan's crankcase. The PCV Valve attaches to crankcase, which houses motor oil. As fuel burns, the lubricant in your crankcase develops gasses that can be damaging to the interior of your Nissan's engine and the atmosphere. Instead of allowing harmful gasses to get into your engine and create sludge that can ruin your Nissan, the PCV Valve guides the gases to a “disposal” mechanism. They go into the combustion chamber to be burned. Lastly, they're released into the atmosphere as a less-damaging exhaust.
This small, but important part helps provide pollution control and better airflow in the crankcase. After a PCV Valve becomes worn, it can cause engine issues.
